Brief Description
The National Irrigation Commission intends to construct cascades of small storage reservoirs(dams) on the Dudumera river (a perennial river) to store and harness the potential flood water of the river for irrigation and livestock purposes so that the potential 40,000 ha irrigable area can be developed with irrigation. The proposed irrigation infrastructure will help farmers to cultivate more than one season.
Detailed Activities
- Carry out a topographical survey of the Irrigation scheme potential area;
- Conduct Water Resource and Hydrological study;
- Conduct a soil survey;
- Conduct Agronomic study;
- Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Study (ESIA)
- Conduct detailed engineering Design of Irrigation Infrastructures, farm structures, farm Roads and Drainage systems as well as flood protection Dyke if any;
- Carry out Geotechnical Investigations
- Carry out financial and economic analysis.
