Short Description of the Projects.
The project involved undertaking full time monitoring and supervision of defects rectification of the rehabilitated irrigation infrastructure which includes pump station improvements, finalize installation of six new axial flow submersible pumps, lining part of irrigation canals, shaping and dredging of drainage channels, construction of control and distribution structures, replacing/improving of steel gates, and farm roads for the Dakawa farm. The Project seeks to improve rice production utilizing minimal amount of water for big results for both Unguja and Pemba in order to meet its domestic demand, and to expand exports to neighbouring countries.
Components of the project include:-
- Contract No. 1; Improvement of access road – 800 m, UWAWAKUDA office and electrical control room
- Contract no. 2: Supply and installation of 6 six new pumps
