Short description of the project:

Development of satellite areas at Mikocheni, Kawe, Jangwani Beach, Africana, Kunduchi, Ununio, Bunju and Mbweni areas in addition to incoming traffic from other locations in Tanzania and neighbouring countries to Dar es Salaam have excessively lowered the mobility level of road networks.

The widening of the roads project shall be geared towards mainstreaming functional mobility and provision of bus Rapid Transirt (BRT) lanes with minimum interuptions of mixed traffic flow. In view of that, the Consultant shall consider and design major intersections with radial access roads to service roads and inbound residences to reduce traffic interference on the main roads.

Service provided in this assignment included the following:

• Perform such engineering tasks, economic studies, field investigations, development of roads ICT, Intelligent Traffic Signals and illumination system (street light)
• Provision of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes by considering the concept design carried out by M/s LOGIT in 2019.
• Design and provide for well-coordinated Non – Motorised Transport (NMT) facilities throughout the road project for enhanced environmentally friendly road infrastructure that encourage cycling and walking. Synergy integrated design that considers for provision of road infrastructure for physically challenged people shall at all-time be paramounted notably, at bus stops, built up centres and intersections.
• Conduct a holistic network study by varying out traffic assignment and network analysis model to alleviate traffic congestion in intersections of the roads project.
• Carry out the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments in accordance with the requirements of the legislations and policies of the United Republic of Tanzania.
• Detailed Engineering design of the roads.
• Preparation of Tender Documents.
