The assignment aims at Implementing demand-responsive and sustainable Community Water Supply Services, providing basic drinking water and sanitation facilities, Strengthening community capacity to plan, implement, operate and maintain their facilities, Developing district-level capacity to deliver Community Water Supply services, creating an enabling environment for the private sector and NGOs to play an active role in the delivery of goods and services and assisting and supporting RUWASA and communities in planning, implementation and management of WSS facilities, Promoting and providing support for efficient and sustainable rural water supply and sanitation facilities

Detailed Description of  Services Provided

• Carry out a feasibility study and scoping study of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) situation of earmarked sub-projects in the distric
• Assist RUWASA prepare or update the Water Supply and Sanitation Plans at District level
• Carrying out groundwater investigations to determine water sources
• Prepare detailed designs and cost estimates of the selected communities WSS projects,
• Propose optimal packages for contracting the works and prepare tender documents for their implementation,
• Assist RUWASA in the tendering process
• Advise communities and RUWASA on technical feasibility and operation and maintenance requirements of the planned facilities.
• Carry out promotion of Rain Water Harvesting using roof top catchments
