Design Review and Construction Supervision for the upgrading of the Malagarasi – Ilunde -Uvinza Road (51.1km) to Bitumen Standard

Short description of the project:

The Malagarasi – lIunde – Uvinza Road (51.1 Km) is located in Kigoma Region. The road is among the priority links for improvement on the central corridor Networks because it will connect Tanzania with neighboring countries like Burundi, and Democratic Republic of Congo through Kigoma Port and Border posts. This will facilitate interstate trade with neighbouring countries of Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Service provided in this assignment included the following:

• Carry out design review to ensure correctness, completeness and compliance with the internationally acceptable standards and National Guidelines and standards.
• Assist on preparation of Tender Documents, revised Bill of Quantities and Confidential Cost estimate based on the revised design, drawings, specifications, conditions of contract, etc.
• Assist TANROADS during tendering process.
• Carry out Supervision of the works contract to ensure that the works comply with the approved design, drawings, specifications, conditions of contract and sound engineering practice.
• To prepare and submit monthly progress report for the Works.
• Provide annual report on measures adopted for the safety of Project roads, sensitization of Local populations on HIV/AIDS, STI, TB and Gender issues.
• Supervise maintenance activities during the defects liability period.
• Preparation of final construction report, reviewing and approving as-built drawings prepared by the Contractor.
• Preparation of the Project Completion Report (PCR) as per the Financier’s format.
